Hard to believe that's Guyana.

So very beautiful.

I really don't know the country of my birth.....Lived 20 years there and never left Demerara 😥

Furthest I visited..... up to Parika once and up to Mahaica only because my sister got married to a guy from Mahaica Creek.

Sad!

Sadly many parts of Guyana was inaccessible to many of us either due to affordability or logistics. Because of the politics, we began seeing ourselves more as an uninvited guest who was just awaiting our ticket out. But the First World gave us a second chance and many of us can now afford to return and experience those places but the current crime situation is too high a price to pay.

Yes, safety/security is a big deal for me...... I am a scaredy-cat!

We vacation twice per year - mostly the Caribbean Islands, but once Covid is over, I would love to go spend a couple of weeks travelling in Guyana - finally visit Essequibo and Berbice.

I still have nieces, a nephew their families there.

Good for it, Avoid depressing areas and be alert of your surroundings. When travelling with vehicle, keep your windows up and doors lock, especially in the city at traffic lights. Look around before you gets out of your vehicle, honestly we do it here in certain part of Canada. Spending time in the country is the safest. Don't spread the word out that you are on vacation.

You will enjoy your visit to the homeland much more than the Caribbean Island.
